Obituary of Coleman Lonnie Bowers

Coleman Lonnie Bowers, 88, of Over Cheat Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his home. He was born in Over Cheat on June 27, 1925, the son of the late Okey Johnson Bowers and Edna (Myers) Bowers Gatin. Coleman was a lifelong member of the Zion United Methodist and Cheat Lake United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of the AF & AM Union Lodge #4, a 32nd degree Mason, a lifelong gold card member of the Carpenters Union #604 and retired in 1986. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James Lonnie Bowers and Patricia of Over Cheat; his granddaughter, Emily Jean Bowers of Over Cheat; brother Okey Bowers, Jr. of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Hilda Smith Bowers; brother, Delbert Bowers. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Thursday, April 17 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, April 18 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Krysta Rexrode Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Coleman's memory to Cheat Lake United Methodist Church, 750 Fairchance Rd, Morgantown, WV 26508.
