Alice Jane Lotspeich, 56, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Sundale Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gherig’s Disease). Jane was born in Summersville on October 16, 1957, the daughter of the late Delbert Murray and the late Mary (Nicholson) Murray. Survivors include two sons, Christopher Murray Lotspeich of Morgantown and Nicholas William Lotspeich and wife Amy of Dilliner, PA, two grandchildren, Makenna and Kaeden Lotspeich; two brothers, Larry Murray and wife Patty of Lorain, OH and Chesney Murray and wife Suzy of Morgantown; four sisters, Deborah Gaspar of Wheeling, WV, Martha Greer and husband Tom, Lisa Novak, and Amy Hargis and husband John, all of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and nephew, Morgan and Adam Hargis, with whom she shared a special bond.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John T. and Lizzie Murray; her maternal; grandparents, Henry and Zella Nicholson; and a brother-in-law, John Gaspar. Jane was a very devoted mother and “mammaw”. She loved spending time with her family, and relished spending time with her grandchildren, enjoying sleepovers, daytrips, tea parties and baking cookies. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips with her family and friends. She was employed at Ruby Memorial Hospital in the Laboratory Department. The family will receive friends at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and again on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 1 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2 PM with Pastor Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in Jane’s memory please be made to the WVU ALS Clinic – Neurology Department, Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, PO Box 9180, Morgantown, WV 26506. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the ALS Clinic, Sundale Nursing Home Staff, Morgantown Hospice, and the many special friends who supported her through her journey.
