Obituary of William Dayton "Buddy" Statler, Jr.

William Dayton "Buddy" Statler, Jr., 52, of Kennedy Run Rd., Rivesville, passed away early Thursday morning, August 14, 2014, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.. Buddy was born in Morgantown on November 27, 1961, the son of William Dayton Statler, Sr. and the late Doloris Jean (Donley) Statler Survivors include his wife Vanessa Johnson Statler; a step-daughter, Savanna Law of Katy, WV; his siblings, Tina Wolford and her husband Wally of Core, Jeanie Sayre, and her husband James of Reedsville, Gerald “Jug” Statler of Wadestown, and Nancy Yost and Roger of Core; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Christopher Damen Wolford. Buddy was a hard working man, who was most recently employed as a heavy equipment operator with Forquer Contracting, and has been previously employed with UPP, City Crane and several others. He dearly loved his family, and spending time with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family. His boxer, Huck, was his baby. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home on Sunday, August 17th from 2-9 PM and again on Monday, August 18th from 10-11 AM. The funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at approximately 11:15 AM and travel to St. Luke Cemetery in Mooresville where a graveside committal service will be held. The family requests only casual dress for guests at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Buddy’s memory may be made to WVU Children’s Hospital, 8200 Medical Center Dr., Morgantown, WV 26506.
