Catherine S. Laird, 97, wife of the late William Laird died peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Mrs. Laird was born in Utica, New York and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Home Economics. Mrs. Laird was active and held executive positions in many service organizations. Her favorite past times were bridge, gardening, golf and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed. She is survived by her six children, Susan Franz (Paul), Mary Kolbash (Ronald), William Laird (Donna), Catherine Berends, Christine Laird, and James Laird (Natalie). Catherine is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers. Family and friends will be received at St. Mary Catholic Church, Star City on Monday, September 29, from 10:00a.m until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Peace Garden Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the charity of your choice.
