Mary May Gibson, 93, formerly of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Colonial Place Assisted Living Facility in Elkins, WV. She was born on May 18, 1921, in Pisgah, Preston County, daughter of the late Homer J. and Anna M. Darby Gibson. Mary was a member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was an active resident of Chestnut Hill Apartments in Morgantown for 16 years prior to relocating to Elkins in 2012. She traveled to Akron, OH, to do war work at the Goodyear Aircraft Corp. as "Rosie the Riveter" from 1942-45. Later, she had a 35-year career with Olan Mills Studio in Morgantown, first as a photographer and then as studio manager. She is survived by two sisters, Lola B. Smith (Herman), of Elkins, and Nelda G. Meredith, of Glen Allen, VA; four nephews, six nieces, eleven grand-nephews and eleven grand-nieces. She was preceded in death by a brother, Milford H. Gibson, of Bruceton Mills, two sisters, Alma M. Gibson, of Morgantown, and Jean Thomas, of Bruceton Mills, and a nephew, Gary Meredith. Family and friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, November 20th from 4-7 PM and again on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. John E. Allen officiating . Family and friends will then meet at the Fairview Cemetery in Pisgah at 1:00 PM for the graveside committal service. Online condolences: www.hastingsfuneralhome.com
