Shirong "Susan" Pan, 51, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 19, 2015 in the emergency department of Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Anhui, China on September 4, 1963, a daughter of the late Ruixuan Pan, and Zhongming (Hu) Pan who survives her in Naning, China. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Jinliang Ma and their son Chuck of Morgantown; two brothers, Shili Pan and Shining Pan of Naning, China; and two nephews. After moving to the United States from China, Susan and her husband lived in Provo, Utah, Parsippany, NJ, Salt Lake City, UT, and Morgantown, WV. In China, she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering, and in the US, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Montclaire State University, New Jersey. After moving to Morgantown, she worked at the WVU Health Sciences Center as a dispatcher, and then at the WVU Research Corporation as an Accounting Assistant. In 2002, she was baptized at Living Stone Christian Church of New Jersey. She and her husband are members of Morgantown Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance Church (MCCMAC). There, she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving the Lord. Her hobbies included singing, photography, cooking, clothes shopping, camping, and traveling throughout the US and abroad. She was a very friendly and social person who loved to host guests and parties. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Friday, January 30 from 1-3 & 6-8 PM and again at the Morgantown Chinese Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 463 Madigan Ave., Morgantown, on Saturday, January 31 from 10-11 AM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday morning in the church with Elder Joseph Mei officiating and Pastor Douglas Miller delivering the message. Following the funeral service and in accordance with the wishes of her family, she will be cremated and her ashes will be inurned at a later date.
