Dr. Bertrand Arnold Chiasson passed away peacefully in his home in Las Vegas, NV on March 11th, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Chiasson; his daughter Annie Behr, her husband Craig Behr, and their two children, Alex and Hannah; and his daughter Kathleen Chiasson-Downs and her husband Douglas Downs. Bertrand was born on December 16th, 1946 in Nova Scotia, Canada. He and his family, including six brothers and sisters, relocated to St. Louis, Missouri when he was a young boy. He eventually graduated from St Louis University, and went on to receive his PhD in Chemistry from MIT. While in school in Boston, MA, he met and married Carolyn. Along with raising two children, Bertrand was a career chemist, eventually retiring from Union Carbide in 2003, and then becoming a college-level chemistry professor in Las Vegas. He retired from in 2012. Bertrand was an avid fan of science, history, music, and his family. And so, as he said often, "C'est La Vie." Visitation will take place at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Friday, April 3rd from 3-7pm. A graveside service is planned for Saturday, April 4th at 10am at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover. Full obituary information can be found at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com.
