Betty Mae Harmon, 74, of Brewer Rd., Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 27, 2015 at her residence. Betty was born in Marysville on August 18, 1940, the daughter of Mildred Fern (Osmond) Harmon who survives her in Morgantown, and the late James William Harmon. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Ray Harmon. Betty was a nurse and a long time employee of the WV Department of Health and Human Services and retired from there after many years of service. She was very involved with the Brown’s Chapel Community Center, Brown’s Chapel Church and Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia. She was very much an outdoors person, and could be found tending to her flowers and her lawn. The family’s wishes for cremation have been honored. Family and friends will be received at Brown's Chapel Church, 13 Brown Chapel Rd. (Brewer Rd.), Morgantown, WV on Saturday, April 18 from 11 AM until the time of the memorial service 12 Noon with Pastor Joel Tice officiating. Following the service, all in attendance are invited to join at the Brown’s Chapel Community Center, located directly beside the church where a time of remembrance and celebration of her life will be observed along with light refreshments and food. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to Animal Friends of North Central WV, 252 Brewer Rd., Morgantown, WV 26508.
