Mary Virginia Baniak of Morgantown passed away on Monday June 8, 2015 at Madison Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 13, 1924 to Joseph and Josephine Romano. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Rose Urso, Angeline Peluso, Sarah Faleschini and brothers Samuel Romano and John Romano. Mary was a graduate of University High School. A dedicated homemaker and loving Mother, Mary was also an active member of Senior Monongalians and Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose and VFW. She was also a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Mary is survived by her husband Joseph J. Baniak and two children; Joey Baniak of Goldsboro, NC and Marcia Jo Vaziri and her husband Pete of Denver, CO. Also surviving are nieces Clara Belcastro, Janet Cassell, Rita Campbell, Rebecca Staley and nephew Tony Urso. The Baniak family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Madison Center who work tirelessly to provide compassionate care for the residents. Your dedication and love for Mary will never be forgotten. We also want to express our deepest appreciation to Mary's niece Rita Campbell and special friend Joy Boguszewski for their extraordinary devotion to Mary. Family and friends will be received at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, in Star City on Thursday, June 11th from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Fr. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Peace Garden Mausoleum.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Activities Department at Madison Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 161 Bakers Ridge Road, or the Charity of your choice.
