Alfred Jones

Alfred Charles Jones, 85, of Morgantown, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 20, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.Alfred was born in Morgantown on September 24, 1925, a son of the late William James Jones, Jr. and Elizabeth Morgan Jones Gaschler.He worked at various chemical plants, and retired in 1986 as a Supervisor at the WVU Boiler Plants. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II.Survivors include his wife, Judith Mae Preston Jones two daughters, Donna Hare and her husband Charles of Morgantown, and Cheryl Hewitt and her husband Roger of Columbus, GA his grandchildren, Jennifer Shaw and her husband Tim of Columbus, GA, Robin Gosling and her husband Paul of Columbus, GA, Dr. C. Bradley Hare of San Francisco, CA and Jeffrey Hare and his wife Jennifer of Alexandria, VA great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Zachary Shaw of Columbus, GA, Emma, Jack and Kate Hare of Alexandria, VA and Charlotte Hare of San Francisco, CA as well as several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Englebert Gaschler one brother, William J. Jones, Jr. and a sister. Marian Gaschler Bigler.The family will receive friends at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 1-3 and 6-8 PM Friday, July 22nd, and again on Saturday, July 23rd from 9 AM until the time of the funeral service at 10 AM with Reverend Richard Work officiating. Interment will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
