Andrew Morris, Jr., of Winston Salem, NC, formerly of Morgantown, passed away October 2 from illnesses associated with Agent Orange exposure while serving his country in Vietnam. His service to his country with the Army was always a source of pride. He proudly served on the Honor Guard with the Westover VFW for many veterans’ funerals while in Morgantown.
He was the son of Andrew and Pauline Morris, both deceased. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith Bond Morris, a sister, Katherine Morris Sims, four children, Andrea (Bradley) Ehmen, Elizabeth (Brian) Gifford, Gregory (Beth) Morris, and Nicholas (Jesse) Morris. Also surviving are his seven beloved grandchildren, Austin Charles and Zachary Andrew Gifford, Katherine and Brandon Ehmen, Andrew Charlie Morris, and Henry Andrew and Liria Catherine Morris, and his loyal Aussie, Loki.
His hobbies included travel, fishing, and playing old-time music. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, endless storytelling, and of course, his handlebar moustache.
Andrew was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Morgantown. His faith and his Greek heritage were very important to him throughout his lifetime. He particularly enjoyed trips to Greece to locations where his ancestors lived.
Friends and family will be received at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 447 Spruce St, Morgantown on Monday, October 12th from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am.
A light luncheon at the church will follow the service. A private interment with full military honors will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Morgantown, Westover VFW, or any charity of your choice.
