Anthony Aaron “Tony” Loughry, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on June 27, 2026. He was born in Rowlesburg, WV, on October 22, 1941, the son of the late Howard Dale Loughry, Sr. and Maxine Virginia (Hoff) Loughry.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lorraine Carol “Miss Sue” Loughry; his sister, Mary Louise Reeb (Irvin); two brothers, Howard Dale Loughry (Pearl) and Ronald Lee Loughry (Bethany Breetz); and close friends, Terry and Ruth Hart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Irvin H. Reeb, Sr., and mother-in-law, Dorothy Lorraine (Everley) Reeb.
He attended Patterson Senior High School in Baltimore, MD and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating in 1960. He completed marksman specialist training at both Fort Jackson and Fort Bragg before being stationed overseas in Fulda, Germany. Following his military service, Tony worked at Baltimore’s legendary White Coffee Pot diner, as well as Baltimore Gas & Electric and Bethlehem Steel, before embarking on a successful career in the railroad industry. Over the years, he served as a brakeman, qualified foreman, and engineer for Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, Chessie System, and CSX Transportation.
Beyond his career, Tony was a dedicated and valued member of the Corinthian Lodge No. 93 A.F. & A.M. in Towson, MD. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, July 3rd, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Donna Dalton officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed at www.youtube.com/@hastingsfuneralhome.
A committal service will be held at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, 10201 Bird River Rd., Baltimore, MD on Monday, July 6th at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s memory to the Cool Springs Community Fire Department, 2760 Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, WV 26508.
