Aretta Williamson

Aretta Lee Williamson, 98, of Granville, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Aretta Lee was born in Holden, WV on September 16, 1914, the daughter of the late James F. Chambers Sr. and the late Kenova (Ferguson) Chambers. Aretta was a long time member of Granville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the third graduating class of University High School. She went on to be a sales clerk at A&P Store in Granville until the time that she became a Granville Post Office Clerk for many years. She was always an active part of the community, having served on the Granville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by two sons: Kent L. Williamson and wife Mary (Susie) of Morgantown and Keith D. Williamson and wife Carol of Villages, FL, formerly of Morgantown; seven grandchildren: Kent Jr., Karen, Kevin, Kelli, Kermit, Amy, and Cullen; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother James F. Chambers Jr. and wife Jean of Parma, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Gordon D. Williamson, two sisters and two brothers. Friends and family will be received on Sunday June 16, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, and again on Monday June 17, from 11 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Gina Stewart officiating.
