Arthur “Skip” Piper, 94, formally of Morgantown, passed away on December 5, 2017, in Loveland, Ohio at The Lodge Nursing and Rehab Center. Skip was born in Morgantown, on November 1, 1923, the son of the late Marshall Forman Piper and Gladys M. Taylor. He lived in Morgantown up until two years ago, when he moved to Cincinnati, OH, to be close to his son. He graduated from Morgantown High School and was then enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II in which he served in 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles in Germany and participated in many infamous battles with German troups. He attended West Virginia University and Georgetown University, and went on to work at Sterling Faucet for over 30 years. He was a member of the Monongalia Archers Club, Amateur Hand Radio Club known as W8RXP, as well as a member of the American Legion. Skip was a very proud veteran whose favorite holiday was Veteran’s Day. He proudly wore 101st Airbourne Cap every day. He was a very caring father for his only son. Throughout his life, he helped friends and neighbors with anything needing constructed or repaired. Skip is survived by his son, Michael Piper; grandson, Anthony Piper both of Cincinnati, Ohio; siblings, Paul Piper of Vero Beach, Florida and Althea Powell of Morgantown. In addition to his parents, Skip was predeceased by his wife Anna L. Piper. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. on Saturday, December 16th from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Timothy Allen officiating. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Garden.
