Bette Gidley

Bette Jane Gidley, 86, of Canyon Village, Morgantown, formerly of Cassville passed away Sunday morning, August 5, 2012 at her residence.Bette was born in Morgantown on January 7, 1926, a daughter of the late Daniel Chidester and the late Dessie (Britton) Chidester.Survivors include her four children, Carla Jane Snyder of Morgantown, Daniel Paul Gidley and his wife Patricia of Lake Lynn, PA, Marsha Gidley with whom she made her home and Sandra Jones of High Point, NC 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bennett Daniel Chidester, Denver Royce Chidester and Richard Keith Chidester one sister, Martha V. Batton and a daughter-in-law, Lucy Gidley.Bette was employed as a clinical lab technician at WVU Hospital. She was a member of the Sabraton Baptist Church, the Isaac Walton League and Parents Without Partners.Bette had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing solitaire. She was loved by everyone who knew her and was exceptionally devoted to her children and grandchildren.In accordance with Betteâs wishes, no visitation or funeral services will be held, and she will be cremated.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Morgantown Hospice for their kindness during Betteâs illness.Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown is in charge of the arrangements.
