Betty Messenger

Betty Wanita Messenger, 92, of Albright, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Morgantown on December 2, 1924, daughter of the late James Crawford Phillips and Emma Twigg Phillips. Betty loved her family and helped to raise her grandson, Marc DeVall. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Howdershelt (Denver) of Albright; three sons, Gary (Pat) Messenger of Virginia, Bradley Messenger of Morgantown, and Kevin (Jacqueline) Messenger of Bruceton Mills; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and one sister, Gloria Felton of Morgantown. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Blair Ross Messenger; her son, James Messenger; and her brothers, George and Robert Phillips. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 9-11 AM, the time of the service with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
