Carl Eugene Eddy, 88, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, January 30th at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born March 24, 1928 in Morgantown, a son of the late Merl and Myrtle (Masters) Eddy. Mr. Eddy was a 55 year member of Star City United Methodist Church and attended Avery United Methodist Church. He retired as a supervisor with 40 years of service from Hope Gas. During that time he worked through the day and moonlit in the evenings and Saturdays which allowed his wife, Betty Lou, to stay home with their 3 daughters. He sat on the board of Hope Federal Credit Union until 2016. He is a former member of the Citizens Band Radio Club and National Campers and Hikers Association. He was a hard worker and a master of many construction projects in his life including building 3 houses. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, grandchildren and playing checkers with his great grandson, Caleb. Carl and Betty had the opportunity to travel to Alaska 5 times in their motor home traveling a different route each trip. Carl always talked about 1 more time so he could visit a different fishing hole. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Lou (Bennett) Eddy; daughters, Sandy Marshall, Laura Jones and her husband Michael, and Sue Ellen Byard; grandchildren, Janie Spicer and Sabrina Austin; great grandchildren, Erika Spicer, Amanda Spicer, and Caleb Austin; sister, Sandra Burror and her husband David. He is also survived by his former son in law, Doug Byard. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his grandson in law, Matt Austin. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Jason Moreland, WVU Heart Institute for his excellent care and to their wonderful neighbors. In keeping with his wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Saturday, February 4th from 3 PM until the time of the memorial service at 6 PM with Rev. Junius Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canyon Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 18 Whipkey Lane, Morgantown, WV 26508
