Carl "Red" Dayton Kennedy

Carl Dayton "Red" Kennedy, 79, of Morgantown, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at his residence. He was born on June 29, 1941, in Barbour County, WV, the son of the late Howard and Mary (Dalton) Kennedy. He and his wife attended Covenant Church in Fairmont. He was the kind of guy who never met a stranger. He took great joy in meeting his group of friends for breakfast at Hardees. He also loved to travel and visit with others. He worked for 27 years as a driver for Montgomery Ward. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet (Nicholson) Kennedy; children, Sandra Kennedy Orsborn and husband, Jeffrey, of Fairmont and Cheryl Kennedy Ramsey and husband, Charlie, of Elkins, WV; granddaughter, Chloe Orsborn and boyfriend, Reed Carpenter, of Fairmont; siblings, Cornelius "Peewee" Kennedy, Wilma Wilburn, Warren Lee Kennedy, and Roger Kennedy and wife, Erma. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Paulette Haseleu. Friends and family will be received on Monday, October 19, 2020, at Nicholson Chapel, Summer School Road, from 4 – 8 p.m. There will be a private service for the family at a later time and internment will be at Nicholson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s memory to Nicholson Chapel, 1326 Summer School Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 or Covenant Church, 17 Everlasting Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554.
