Carol Ann Kurcaba, born August 6, 1952 of Morgantown, WV passed away with her family by her side on January 4, 2026 at Mon General Hospital. She was a resilient fighter and came back from the brink of death on multiple occasions. Her will to live and endure was nothing short of remarkable. In the end, the call of God and the lure of heavenly glory was too enticing to turn away from.
Carol was the daughter of the late Carrol Wensel Forman and Betty Lou Forman. Her family ran a service station off Rt 73 and she grew up helping in the store as well as helping run her home at a young age. She graduated from MHS in 1970 and went on to business college and worked at Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank before having kids. She was a stay-at-home mom until her kids were old enough for her to return to work. She made wonderful memories for her children by taking them to their Grandma Ginny and Pap Cork’s pool during the summers, spent afternoons at the movie theater with them, created special Christmas traditions, and made an abundance of delicious homemade meals and desserts. She returned to work at Hope Gas then to WVU where she worked in various administration positions at WVU. She worked in Housing and Residence life, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Student Services, and the Division of Theater and Dance. She especially enjoyed interacting with the students and made many lifelong friendships at the places she worked.
She enjoyed being a member of Beta Sigma Phi service sorority and loved her sisters. She loved to cook (especially anything Italian). Her home was always tastefully and freshly decorated like something from a magazine. Christmas and New Years Day were always a special time. She would spend weeks baking and cooking in anticipation of spending the holidays with the special people in her life. She loved having a house full of family and friends. She especially loved watching her grandkids grow up and attending their Christmas plays, sports events, and significant milestones. Despite the health issues she battled in the later years of her life, she maintained as full of a life as possible with the help of her husband faithfully taking care of her every need.
Carol is survived by her caring husband George (Skeeter) Kurcaba of 53 years. Her son, Brian Kurcaba (and wife Tara) of Morgantown and daughter, Heather Yost of Martinsburg. Grandkids; Audrey, Faith, and Brian II (Bubs) Kurcaba and Grace and Emma Yost. Special recognition to Jolene Retallack of Trevorton, PA that donated a portion of her liver to Carol (a complete stranger) so she would live. Jolene gave her 4 ½ more years of life of which our family is so very grateful.
