With profound sadness and unwavering love, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, Charlene “Sherry” Plant Schoolcraft, who entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2026, at the age of 70.
Born on April 18, 1956, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert “Buzz” Plant and Juanita Jean Sampson Plant of Grantsville, West Virginia.
On September 11, 1972, she married the love of her life, Stephen “Steve” Schoolcraft, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned more than 53 years. Together they built a home filled with laughter, steadfast love, and a deep devotion to family.
She is survived by her devoted husband; her daughters, Stacy Campbell and Shannon Schoolcraft; and son Evan Schoolcraft. She was also a proud grandmother to Makayley Poole, Isabella Campbell, and Abigail Campbell, Easton and Cooper Schoolcraft. Also survived by sister Pamela Plant Suttle and niece Chasity Suttle Moore. She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Autumn Poole, whose memory she carried close to her heart every day.
To know her was to know laughter. She was truly the spark of our family, the one who could make any gathering brighter with her playful spirit. She possessed a rare gift for finding joy in ordinary moments and making every person she loved feel special.
She was beautiful inside and out, but it was her fierce love for her family that defined her most. She was protective, selfless, generous, and steadfast—a constant source of strength, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her family always came first, and she poured her heart into caring for those she loved.
On the afternoon of July 3, surrounded by her husband, daughters, and son at her bedside in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at WVU Hospital, she peacefully slipped from this life into eternity. It was a gentle and beautiful reminder of God’s promise that He walks with His children through the valley and welcomes them home.
Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we rejoice knowing she has been reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and is now whole, healed, and forever at peace in the presence of her Lord.
Her laughter will echo in our memories, her love will remain in our hearts, and the legacy she leaves behind will continue through every life she touched. We will miss her every day until we meet again.
A private service will be held at a later time.
