Clarence Gilbert Uphold

Clarence Uphold, 92, of Rock Forge, Morgantown, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Oakland on March 21, 1924, the son of the late Harvey Allen and Loretta Cori Nair Uphold. Clarence was retired from Consolidated Coal Company at Arkwright mine with over 38 years of service, and he was a member of the UMWA. He loved spending his summers camping at Big Bear Lake with his family and friends, and he also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his children; Charles Uphold and wife, Sherry, Barbara Golden and husband, Dan, Patty Mason, Betty Golden and husband, Dave, all of Morgantown; his grandchildren; Kim Kerns, Crystal Golden, Mike Golden, Amy Golden, Debbie Bennett, Danny Golden, Talley Swaney, Kelly White, Joey White, Butch White, David Mason, Michelle Hall, Charles Uphold and Heidi Uphold, 27 great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Joe White of Morgantown, and one sister, Nettie Spangler. Clarence is preceded in death by his wife, Leona; one daughter, Brenda White; three brothers and one sister. Family and friends will be received at Nicholson Chapel Church, Summer School Road, Morgantown Tuesday, May 31st from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 1st from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morgantown. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery.
