Claud Ernest Rogers

Claud Ernest Rogers 89, of Madison Nursing and Rehab Center, Morgantown, WV went to with the Lord and Betty on October 14, 2018. He was born on the family farm June 13, 1929 in Rowlesburg, WV a son of the late Lester Rogers and Arley May Robinson. The family moved to the Shinnston area when he was 15 years old. He was a member of Spruce St. United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He graduated from WV Business College in Clarksburg in 1953. After graduation, he studied with the International Accounting Society and Fairmont State College in off campus classes. He worked with an accounting firm in Clarksburg until moving to Morgantown in 1956 where He worked in accounting and business manager for 30 years at various auto dealerships in the Morgantown and Fairmont areas. He also did private accounting and real estate. Claud enjoyed being outdoors with nature, growing things, and spending time with his Family. He was a past president of Suncrest area Kiwanis club where he was a member for nearly 30 years. Spent 15 years in Boy Scouts, mostly in recruiting and organizing Cub Scout units. He was recognized for leadership in Civic Organization by the 1985 Morgantown Bicentennial Zachquill Morgan Honorees. He is survived by a son, Mark Rogers and wife Sandy of Morgantown, a daughter, Rebecca Stanley and husband David of Morgantown, four grandchildren, Gregory and Anna Rogers and Jeremy and Jeffery Stanley and a sister Betty Jo McIntire of Monongah, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Messenger Rogers and an Infant Brother. Family and Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Wednesday, October 17th from 4-7 PM and again on Thursday, October 18th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Neil Leftwich officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Masontown.
