Constance “Connie” Jeanette Crider, 89, of Morgantown, WV passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Sundale Nursing Home. Connie was born on November 2, 1936, in Pursglove, WV, the daughter of the late Bernard Drosky and Mary Moen. Connie enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing, crocheting, putting together puzzles, and reading Amish books.
Connie lived her life homesteading as a true Alaskan pioneer, including helping to build her family’s log cabin home on Johnson Road in Fairbanks to raise her six children as a homemaker in rural Alaska. Connie traveled the Alcan (Alaska Highway) multiple times by herself to visit her children and grandchildren in PA/WV. On a few of her trips, she took her beloved goldfish, George, with her. Connie’s love of The Last Frontier spanned over 40 years before returning to reside in Morgantown, WV.
Connie is survived by her loving sister, Sharon Turner, her children Teresa Anderson, Vivian “Vicki” (Russell) Grim, Linda “Candy” (Gary) Lohiser, Dwayne (Kim) Crider, Doreen (Bradley) Baxter, and Roger Crider. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kimo (Eva) Hollinrake, Joshua (Laura) Grim, Jared (Jackie) Grim, Mitchell (Amanda) Lohiser, Jeanette (Ken) Tyler, Jr., Zachary (Raini) Crider, Angelo “Joey” (Brionna) Yannello, Brandi (Anthony) Welch, Tora (Brock) Armstrong, as well as 22 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Knouse, brother Bill Drosky, and son-in-law, Jim Anderson.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 135 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Monday, October 5th from 2:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Services at 4:00 PM. with Rev. Fr. Brian Crenwelge officiating. Private inurnment will take place at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
