Constance Susan Katsakis, née Martin, 75, of Westover, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in her home. She was born in Morgantown on June 27, 1941, the daughter of the late Milton Dale and Lucy Wilhelmina Martin, née Riley. A lifelong resident of West Virginia, Constance was proud to have represented the city of Westover’s First Ward on the Westover City Council, where she worked to improve the lives of everyone in the town she so loved. Constance retired from Monongalia County Schools after working as a school secretary for 20 years. Prior to working for Monongalia Country Schools, she worked for Hills Department Store and Sterling Faucet, where her coworkers became her life-long friends. Highly creative, she enjoyed music, especially playing the piano. She also enjoyed writing poetry and was an excellent seamstress. She was a kind person who truly valued all her family and friends. She is survived by her son Nickolas George Katsakis and his wife Madina Toshmuhamedova-Katsakis; daughter, Melanie Beth Moore and her husband Harvey Allen Moore, grandchildren, Alexander George Moore and Joshua Harvey Moore; brother, Robert Dale Martin; sister, Sharon Claudine Campion; sister-in-law Sophia Katsakis Dalton; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, George Joseph Katsakis, and son, George Joseph Katsakis III. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Sunday July 31, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown on Monday, August 1, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Carlos Melocoton, Jr. as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Constance’s memory to the city of Westover for the renovation of Westover Park.
