Cyrus Haymond "Cy" Hess

Cyrus Haymond “Cy” Hess, 84, of Morgantown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 2nd. He was born April 13, 1932 in Morgantown, a son of the late Jesse James and Letta Finnell Hess. Cy enjoyed many activities throughout his life- farming, camping, boating, and horses. He loved spending time with his family and all of his activities revolved around being with them. He enjoyed making people laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his daughters, Cye Ann Bruner and her husband Arlys of Morgantown, Shirley Hess of Morgantown, and Sandy Carpenter and her husband Paul of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Timothy Bruner and his wife Tanya, Brian Bruner and his wife Cindi, Christopher Moats and his wife Leslie, Andrew Moats and his wife Nicole, Jeremy Carpenter and his wife Jill, Karyn Carpenter, and Kelly Montgomery and her husband Matthew; 11 great grandchildren, Ashley, Emiley, Adam, and Elaina Bruner, Ella and Cyrus, Drew, and Zachary Moats, and Candis, Landon, and Kaiden Montgomery; and one sister, Geri Beal of Summersville, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lena Frances Hess; a grandson, Justin Todd Moats; eight brothers and two sisters. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, December 5th from 5-8 PM and again on Tuesday, December 6th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Douglas Miller officiating.
