Daniel Douglas Mathess, 43, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at his home. He was born October 7, 1975, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Perry and Pamela (Robinson) Mathess. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and was actively attending Calvary Chapel in Morgantown. Dan was employed as a software engineer at Idemia and in his free time enjoyed softball, basketball, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, and volunteering with the Fairmont Little League. Dan is survived by his wife, Julie Mathess; sons, Hunter and Cole Mathess; sister, Becki Dye and her husband Travis; nieces and nephews, Jewell and Zane Dye, Caleb, Jack, and Claire Young, Ella Marsh, and Emily Marsh. He is also survived by a loving, and large extended family. Friends and family will be received at Calvary Chapel, 493 Tyrone Rd., Morgantown, on Thursday, August 29th from 5-7 PM and again on Friday, August 30th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Shawn Frasher officiating. A private committal service will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont. While flowers will be accepted and appreciated by the family, donations may be made in his memory at www.givingcompassion.care to offset funeral expenses.
