Donald Marvin Davis, 84, of Maidsville, WV passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1941 in Morgantown, son of the late Donald Harry and Marie Freda (McCann) Davis.
He was an active member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church. He was a 1960 graduate of Morgantown High School, spent eight years in the United States Air Force and 40 years as an owner/operator long distance truck driver.
In his retirement, he was an avid golfer and participated in several organizations. He held many offices in the United Methodist Men, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 306, Westover VFW Post 9916, and American Legion Post 2, where he enjoyed serving for many years at Boys State. First and foremost, he was a family man that loved spending time with those he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rebecca Maude (Lazzell) Davis; son, Donald Lazzell Davis; his daughter-in-law, who he loved as a daughter, Carol Davis; granddaughter, Jessica Davis and great-grandson, Leonidas “Leon“; grandson, Daniel Davis; siblings, Terri Davis and Bonnie Harper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Luella and brother-in-law Larry Casteel.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Wednesday, November 5th from 3-7 PM. At 6 PM, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 306 and the Associate Vietnam Veterans Chapter 306 will conduct a pass and review. Visitation will continue at Spruce Street United Methodist Church, 386 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, November 6th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bart Thompson officiating.
Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery with full military funeral rites conducted at the graveside by the Westover VFW Post 9916 at the United States Air Force.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
