Donald Lee Lantz, 84, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 3, 1942, in Beaver, West Virginia, a son of the late Walter and Wilma Lantz.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen (Hiser) Lantz; his children, Cheryl Lantz, Suzanne (Frank) Barnett, and Michelle (Harry) Mullin; his grandchildren, Alexandria (John) Bihl, Andrew Trentini, Nicholas Lantz, Michael (Shauna) Barnett, Madalyn Barnett (fiancé Nicholas Dogostino), Zachary Mullin (fiancée Trinity Lax), Jacob Mullin (girlfriend Abigail Shoemaker), and Joshua Mullin; his great-grandchildren, Thea Bihl, Wren Bihl, Eiley Barnett, and Ember Payton; and his sister, Ruby Bates. He is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his mother and father in-law, Louis and Helen Hiser, four brothers and two sisters.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and also served with the 201st Infantry/Field Artillery Regiment of the West Virginia National Guard in which he was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant E5. He was formerly employed by the WVU Physical Plant and Riverside Electric.

In his free time, Donald enjoyed washing his truck, mowing the grass, hunting, fishing, camping, and watching John Wayne films and Perry Mason on television. Most of all, he cherished spending time with and caring for his grandchildren.

The family would like to thank everyone who offered assistance and support during this difficult time. They are especially grateful to Donald's daughters, Susie and Missy, for the loving and devoted care they provided, allowing their father to remain at home with dignity.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Sunday, August 16th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Cremation services will follow the visitation. A private family committal service will be held at a later date at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, with full military rites.
