Edward Leroy Hennessey

Edward L. Hennessey, 86, of Morgantown, died Friday, December 16th at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born November 14, 1930 in Long Branch, NJ, the son of the late Leroy and Marian Shields Hennessey. Mr. Hennessey was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for 24 years at the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Corrections Officer and after his retirement also was employed at St. Francis Catholic School. He is survived by his children, Kevin Edward Hennessey and his wife Allison and Bryon Hennessey and his wife Jana and grandchildren, Emma and Katelynn Hennessey all of Morgantown. He is also survived by his cousin, Charlie White of Long Ranch, NJ and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen Keegin Hennessey and cousin, Teressa Lyons. Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown has been entrusted with arrangements. Friends and family will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Wednesday, December 21st from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Scriptural Wake service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM with Sister Nancy White C.S.J. to conclude the evening visitation. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, December 22nd from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father Carlos Melocoton, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover with full military rites being conducted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 S.
