Elvera Alieva Cooper

Elvera Alieva Cooper, 42, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 in Morgantown. She was born in Turkmenistan on March 22, 1984 to Guseyn Aliev and Zinaida (Yuryevna) Alieva.

Elvera graduated from WVU with a degree in BioChemistry, and spent twelve years working at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital as a cytogeneticist. She pursued bodybuilding, and earned her bodybuilding pro card in just a few years, at the 2018 National Physique Committee competition in Miami, Florida. She later returned to WVU and graduated from the School of Nursing in 2024, working first in oncology nursing, then in radiation.

In her free time, in addition to pursuing education, bodybuilding, and caring for her two daughters, she propogated plants, eventually starting a rare tropical plant business. Elvera also loved traveling, gardening, and every animal she came across.

She was a current member of Calvary Chapel Morgantown.

She is survived by her daughters, Amelia Kuraeva and Sophia Elvera Lee Jenkins; and her fiancé, Matthew Shawn Berkshire.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Morgantown, 493 Tyrone Rd., Morgantown on Sunday, October 18th beginning at 3:00pm with Pastor Shawn Frasher officiating.
