Emma Theresa Fodor Mercer, 86, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010, at home, after a brief illness, with family by her side.She was born on September 30, 1924, in Pageton, WV, and was the daughter of the late George and Mary ( Valach) Fodor.Emma lived in Morgantown for over 50 years. She was employed by the Monongalia county Board of Education, Morgan Manor Convalescent Center and retired form Summit Hall. Most recently, she was a long-time volunteer for the Community Soup Kitchen of Morgantown, a labor of love which she cherished. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was active in several ministries at the church over the years. She was a talented seamstress, quilter and cook. Many have been blessed by her gifts throughout the years.Emma is survived by her daughters, Rosemary (Neil) Davis of Wichita, KS Rebecca (Trevor) Lawton of Asheville, NC Margaret Tice of Charles Town and Karen Mercer of Morgantown her step-daughter, Peggy Roberts of Heath, OH and her daughter-in-law, Peggy Mercer, of Shinnston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andy Verbil and Katie Verbil of Wichita, KS Meghan (Adam) Tice Watson, Alex Tice and Eli Tice of Charles Town Jennifer Beach and Courtney Beach of Morgantown, Melanie Beach of Nashville, TN Ann (Bret) Clippinger of Heath, OH and James (Tammy) Roberts of Heath, OH her great grandchildren, Jacob Corbin of Wichita, KS, Aaron Roberts, Kelly Roberts, Elizabeth Clippinger and Michelle Clippinger of Heath, OH. She is also survived by two brothers, John (Maxine) Fodor of Morgantown and Michael (Jean) Bozoti of Strongsville, OH and an uncle, Joseph Valach of Pocahontas, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Mercer step-son, James C. Mercer brother, Alex M. Fodor, infant twin sisters, Annie and Mary Fodor and a son-in-law, George Roberts. The family will receive friends at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Sunday, Oct. 24 from 3-6p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 247 Willey Street, Morgantown Monday, Oct. 25 at 10:00a.m.with Father Michael Hadaway officiating. Intombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 247 Willey Street, Morgantown, WV 26505, with the memorials benefiting the Community Soup Kitchen in Morgantown.
