Ernest Byrd

Ernest Lee Byrd, 81, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at his residence.He was born on March 29, 1930, in Morgantown, the son of the late Harley W. and Louise Christen Byrd. He worked as a motor operator for Consol Energy at the Pursglove Mine #15 for 42 years. He was a member of the UMWA. Ernest served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Emma M. Miller Byrd, his children Beverly Byrd and fiancée Randy Jackson of Morgantown, and Richard Byrd and friend Roi Stephens of Morgantown, a sister, Elizabeth Barill of Morgantown, as well as several nieces and nephews and in-laws.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Byrd.
