Eva Lou Metz

Eva Lou Hayes Metz, 83, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Metz was born in Bruceton Mills on September 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Ralph Waldo Emerson and the late Leona Rebecca (Teets) Emerson. She worked as a seamstress and caregiver for many years and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Beckner and her husband John of Morgantown and Karen “Becky” Smyth and her fiancé James Buttermore of Morgantown; grandchildren, Amber Smyth Berry and her husband Jason of Morgantown and Jason Beckner of Morgantown; great grandchildren, Ashland Robertson, Jonathan Dax Breeden, and Joseph Beckner; and siblings, Irvin Emerson, Luella Johnson, Goldie Rosati, Sue Hawk, and Frances Wolfe. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Metz is preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Ronald Hayes; her second husband, Russell Metz; and siblings, Harold Emerson, John Emerson, Jean Arnold, Herb Emerson, Eddie Emerson, George Emerson. In keeping with her wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown and private graveside services will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
