On the evening of Thursday, November 8, 2012 Florence Caroline Davis Cupp slipped peacefully into heaven. We will miss her dearly but know this was a joyous reunion for her with her friends and family who have gone before her.Florence was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1928 in Middletown, Connecticut to Ruth Lusk Beattie Davis and Walter Brighton Davis. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Travis James Cupp, her daughter, Karen Ruth Cupp Higgins, her son-in-law Stephen G. Higgins, and her grandchildren, Heather Lynne Higgins, Christian Tyler Higgins and Josiah James Higgins, all of Morgantown, WV. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Katherine Davis of Litchfield, CT.If you ask her friends they will say you always knew where you stood with her and you always knew she loved you. In earlier years, but not too long ago, Florence loved to sing in the choir and always felt tremendously blessed by the choir and her friends at Spruce Street United Methodist Church. She was an active participant in Bible studies, McDowell Mission trips, United Methodist Women and participated in many other mission and social activities at Spruce Street Church. She loved her church, her family and God.In her younger years, Florence worked at a Madison Avenue advertising agency and lived in New York City where she met her husband Travis. They married, had their only child and moved to Long Island where they made a life until 1994 when they retired and moved to West Virginia. Florence loved gardening, quilting, needlework and always enjoyed social gatherings.Florence loved and cared deeply for the people in her life and in her last days repeated that many times over. She will be missed.Family and friends will be received at Spruce Street United Methodist Church, 386 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 from 2:00p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00p.m. with Rev. Dr.. John E. Allen officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Cuppâs wishes for cremation will be honored, and inurnment will follow at a later date in the Indian Hill Cemetery in Middletown, CT.Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown is in charge of the arrangements.
