Frank O. DeWitt aka Frankie D, 88, of Morgantown WV passed away peacefully at his residence on November 29, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born on April 13, 1937, in Morgantown to Lloyd DeWitt and Grace Pearl Joseph DeWitt, he remained a proud lifelong resident of the community he loved and served.

Frank began his career at Beaumont Glass, where he honed his craft and became a master glass blower - a title that reflected both his skill and dedication. His artistry and precision defined his work until the 1980’s. In 1989, Frank embarked on a new chapter of service with the Monongalia County Sheriffs Office. There he served as Chief Process Server with distinction for over three decades until his “early” retirement in January 2025 at the age of 87.

Frank was a man of many passions. In the 1970’s he led a country band called “Frank DeWitt and the Drifters” where he shared his love for music and was known to all in the tri-state area. Singing was more than a hobby. It was a lifelong joy that brought him closer to those around him. He enjoyed singing at Morgantown Bible Church, which he attended for many years. He cherished time spent deer hunting with his son Craig, creating memories in the woods that would last a lifetime.

His love for storytelling and natural charisma made him a beloved presence wherever he went-he truly never met a stranger. He enjoyed cooking, grilling and trying new recipes. Frank’s faith in The Lord had grown stronger in the last few months during his illness and he looked forward to prayer time each evening with Sharon.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharon DeWitt; children Craig DeWitt (Debbie), Ami Thobois (Craig), Adam Lemasters, and Cyndi Fulk; grandchildren, Derek DeWitt (Kayla), Angelina DeWitt (JC), Brianna Moran (Logan), Caitlyn Thobois, Oliver Thobois, Evelyn Thobois, Michael DeWitt (Heather), Amanda Savage (Mark), Chad Savage (Joyce); great-grandchildren, Michael DeWitt Jr., Isabella Savage, Magdelene Savage, Andrew DeWitt, Caleb Savage, Avary Savage, Lillian Varner, Liam Varner; great-great grandchildren, KayAnna Grimes and Dawson Grogg;  mother-in-law, Thelma Gibson; brother-in-law, Aaron Gibson. Also surviving are his 2 special cats, Pooky and Ms. Crackers.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his step father who raised him, Sam Mikels, his siblings, Eddress, Rita, JR and Gene; his first wife and Craig’s mother, Angelina DeWitt and sister-in-law, Edith Gibson

The family would like to thank WVU Hospice for their loving care during the last few weeks.

A man who loved deeply-his family, his music, his work-Frank will be remembered by his warmth, humor and unwavering spirit. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
