George Lewis Bircher

George Lewis Bircher, 85, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Tygart Center at Fairmont Campus. He was born on November 14, 1932 in Morgantown, the son of the late George Lester Bircher and Alice LaVerne DeWitt. George retired as a custodian at WVU Health Science Center’s Dental Lab after 24 years. He is survived by sisters Alice L. St. Clair and husband, Michael, and Ruth L. Darocha, both of Morgantown; nieces and nephews John P. McCormick and wife, Belinda, of Barboursville, WV, William L. Bircher and wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville, FL, Robert L. Bircher and wife, Irene, of Queen Creek, Arizona, Bernadine Graves of Virginia, Robin L. Eiler of Chandler, Arizona, Scott L. Smyth and wife, Carol, of Canton, GA and Edward L. Smyth and wife, Lisa, of San Ramon, CA; numerous great nieces and nephews; numerous great great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Ron Hershman of Morgantown; sister-in-law Mary Ann Bircher of Christiansburg, Virginia; many friends (special friends) Ashley Aronhalt, Angie Blosser, Chris Abraham, Gary and Bonnie Blosser, Clyde and Mary Rice, Janet Petitte, Alice Juergens, Mary Agnes Sellaro and family, and Theresa Stansbury. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by sisters Louise McCormick, Margaret L. Smyth, Elsie L. Bircher and Betty L. Hershman; brothers John L. Bircher, Donald L. Bircher, Robert L. Bircher and William L. Bircher; brother-in-laws, John P. McCormick, John Darocha, and Albert L. Smyth; and sister-in-laws Mary Ann Clayton Bircher and Barbara Bircher; nephew Ronald Eiler; and niece Maria L. Goff. Special thanks for the love and compassion shown to George by the staff of WV Caring and Tygart Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WV Caring, 1406 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554. A private family interment will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
