Geraldine "Jeri" Cunningham Kuzner

Geraldine “Jeri” Cunningham Kuzner, 91, of Silver Spring, MD died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Holy Cross Hospital of Silver Spring, MD surrounded by members of her family. Jeri was born in Morgantown on November 30, 1922, a daughter of the late George Cunningham and the late Callie (Long) Cunningham. She attended local schools and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1940. While attending West Virginia University, she met Robert A. Kuzner who was from Holliday Cove, WV and was completing his Master’s Degree in Business and Economics. In May of 1941, they were married and moved to the Washington, DC area where Mr. Kuzner was employed with the Federal Government. After the birth of her two children, Jeri was employed by the Pentagon as an Administrative Assistant in the Army Air Force branch of the government until she and her husband retired in 1982.They spent most of their time traveling - both before and after their retirement, and at their summer home in Ocean City, MD. They maintained close ties to Morgantown through Jeri’s brother Gail and his wife Gloria. They were both avid followers of the WVU Mountaineers. Jeri is survived by two children, Dave (Greta) of Waynesboro, PA and Robert of Silver Spring; a sister, Georgia Lee (Ralph) Thompson of Beckley, WV; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two nieces and their children in Beckley, WV and two nephews in Weirton, WV. In addition to her deceased parents and husband Robert, she was preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Gail and Robert. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Monday, October 27 from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM with Reverend Michael Q.
