Geraldine L. Kirkendall, 88, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Sundale Rehabilitation and Long Term Care. She was born February 26, 1937 in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Elton W. Flanagan, Sr. and Freda Mae (Nethken) Henry.
She was a member of Hope Church in Morgantown and formerly worked in Food Service at the WVU Towers. She also previously owned a dairy farm, a convenience store service station that sold hot dogs and pepperoni rolls with her famous homemade hot dog chili, and The Riverview Inn.
Up until last year, she was a very active woman, cleaning homes and mowing her own lawn. Her faith was evident in the way she lived, a testament to her inner strength.
She is survived by her brother, Elton W. “Sonny” Flanagan, Jr. (Rose); nieces, Pam Smith, Mona Taylor, Luci Denjen, Tammy Flanagan, and Debbie Seale; and many great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kirkendall; her three infant daughters; her stepfather, Reese Henry; and her sisters, Betty Cook and Josephine Flanagan.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sundale Rehabilitation and Long Term Care, WV Caring Hospice, and Senior Monongalians for their support. They would also like the give a special thank you to Pisgah United Methodist Church and close family friend, Kim Freeland.
A private family graveside service will take place at a later time at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
