In Loving Memory of Harry William Johnson, II, 70, also known as J.J., Johnny, or the Dellslow Man to many, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Mon Health Medical Center.
Johnny was born on January 30, 1956, in Morgantown, WV, the son of the late Harry and Jacqueline Johnson. Johnny lived a life defined by hard work, humility, and unwavering love for his family. He believed that a man's character was measured not by what he had, but how he treated others and cared for those he loved. Through years of dedication and determination, he provided for his family with quiet strength and an unmatched work ethic. Johnny worked at Mylan Pharmaceuticals for 42 years and was a supervisor in maintenance.
When he wasn't working, Johnny could be found outdoors doing what brought him the greatest joy-hunting and fishing. Whether sitting in a deer stand before sunrise, casting a line into his favorite fishing hole, or sharing stories, he felt most at home in nature. Those moments weren't just hobbies to him; they were opportunities to make memories, teach life lessons, and spend time with family and friends.
Above all else, Johnny cherished his family. He was the kind of man who could always be counted on for a helping hand, wise advice, or a reassuring presence. His love was steady, dependable, and evident in everything he did. The values he instilled - hard work, honesty, loyalty, and respect – will continue to guide those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana of 46 years, his children Stacey Sylvester (Josh) and Courtney Nickell; grandchildren Bradyen and Hudson Sylvester, Addisyn, Aveny, and Anderson Nickell who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by grandparents, Fay and RuthAnn Johnson, Thomas and Ruby Perry; and half-sister, Raylene DeLeon.
Cremation services are being provided by Hastings Funeral Home and a private family inurnment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life honoring Johnny will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 pm at one of his most cherished places, the Dellslow Hunting and Fishing Club, 285 Burris Road, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525. Family and friends are invited to share memories, stories, and celebrate a life well lived.
Though his chair may now sit empty, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
"A life well lived leaves footprints that time cannot erase."
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
