Even when she was still in high school, she helped direct the choir of the Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton and later in her professional work she was usually the one to get everybody singing at 4-H and Extension Meetings. She especially loved ethnic music and traditions. Until the infirmities of age overtook her, many a Sunday in the summer was spent at an ethnic picnic or dance in the Pittsburgh area. Helen had no family other than her current one in Morgantown, all of whom now survive her. They include her husband, Gene; daughter, Julie; daughter Patti Holsclaw and her husband Greg; grandchildren, Ashley and Laura. Another unhappy survivor is her cat, Norman. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Gus and Nick.
