Helen Marie Wilburn

Helen Marie Wilburn, 73, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Harmony of Morgantown. She was a loving wife, and friend to many.

Helen was born on May 28, 1950, in Keyser West Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ayla May Shoemaker.

She had a passion for aviation and worked as an air traffic controller and supervisor for 28 years. She served at Clarksburg TRACON, Roanoke, Pittsburgh, and finished her career at Baltimore Washington International Airport as a supervisor. She was respected and admired by her colleagues and mentored many young controllers.

Helen is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Wilburn.

In accordance with Helen's wishes, cremation services were provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Helen's memory.
