Howard Christopher, Jr.

H.W. “Chris” Christopher, Jr. 69, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1st, 2018 after a brave nine-year battle with colon cancer. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on Oct. 11th, 1948, the son of the late Howard Ward Christopher and Laverne Houze Christopher. Chris had numerous interests. He was a lover of animals, nature, and the great outdoors. He was an avid Muskie fisherman, photographer, and scuba diver during his life. He also enjoyed listening to all genres of music and played the Conga Drums. He was employed as a Senior Account Executive with Ogden Directories for the last 27 years and previously owned the Uffington Marina on the Monongahela river. Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Sue Britton Christopher, of 49 years and three children, Kimberly Renee Christopher Davis and husband, Todd, Vincent Troy Christopher, and Holly Lynn Christopher; grandson, Gabriel Vincent Christopher; in-laws, Roger Britton & wife, Saundra, and Linda Bowers; sibling, Frank E. Christopher; step-brother, Robert Allen; nieces and nephews, Scott Christopher, Marc, Michael, and Heather Bowers, Lori, Zach, Caleb, & Madi Britton. In addition to his father, Ward, and mother, Laverne, he was preceded in death by his sister, Victoria Acthison; nephew, David Britton, and brother-in-law, Garry Bowers. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, W.V. on Saturday, October 6th from 4-8 pm and Sunday, October 7th at Spruce St. United Methodist Church, 386 Spruce St., Morgantown, W.V. from 2 pm until the funeral service at 3 pm with Pastor Neil Leftwich officiating. Interment will follow at Britton Cemetery, Halleck Rd., Morgantown, W.V.
