Irene Michael

Irene Michael, 85, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home Friday, January 13th surrounded by family. She was born December 18, 1931 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Howard and Martha Grove. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed most of all spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their activities. She was affectionately known as "Meme" to her eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Irene is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Henderson (Francis), Darlene Miller (Scott) and her son, Randy Michael (Krista); and eight grandchildren, Ashlee and Taylor Henderson, Zack, Ben and Abby Miller, Taylene Hart (Derik), Stephanie and Rachel Michael; two great grandchildren, Tenley and Hudson Hart; and one sister, Donna Hicks, of Baltimore, MD. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Donald Michael; her brother, Glenn Grove; and daughter in law, Florence Yost Michael. Irene will be missed by the family and friends she loved and who loved her. Her compassion for life and love will be fondly remembered by all. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Lena Lewis, her caregiver, for her love and support and also to the nurses at Morgantown Hospice for their care. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, January 16th from 4-8 PM and again on Tuesday, January 17th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Denny Michael officiating.
