James Del Fawley (JD), 75, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at his home after a courageous battle of cancer. He was born February 5, 1951, in Morgantown, WV, son of the late Roy B. Fawley, Jr., and Rita M. (Nataly) Fawley.

Jim grew up as a member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church. As a teenager going through school, he worked as a paper boy. He also served as an Eagle Scout proudly receiving the God and Country Award.

After graduation from Morgantown High School in 1970, Jim attended WVU while he also worked for Continental Motors, later moving to Montana to work as a Timber Sawyer with his brother Tom. Moving back to Morgantown, he started a masonry business with his lifelong friend Larry Hiner. After perfecting the trade, he went on to open Fawley Construction where he worked as a Masonry Specialist building a reputation as one of the best, a specialty being constructing fireplaces.

He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors throughout his life with a passion for hunting, fishing, and trapping as well as sitting by the campfire. When time would allow him, James would travel west to hunt for the big game and fish in the big rivers. He pursued his passion for the sport by forming the Fort Martin Hunting club in 1990 with his hunting brothers and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Diane Jeffries Fawley, together for 26 years, married on May 19, 2007 celebrating 19 years; siblings, Gary B. Fawley (Scarlett), Tom (Red) R. Fawley, Diane M. Rhodes (Casey), and Joseph K. Fawley (Linda); stepdaughters, Jessica A. Nichols (Tony), Julie N. Slate and step grandsons, Brandon (Slate) Miller; Luke Nichols; brothers and sisters in-law, Jennifer A. Cochran (Mark), Joanne Baker (Scottie), John C. Jeffries, Jayme B. Jeffries, Joel A. Jeffries and Jay A. Jeffries; nieces and nephews, Mel, Rob, Tommy, Seth, Andrew, Alex, Joel, Matthew, Jeff, Jeremy, Sarah, Clista, Jesse, Levi, Jasmine, Machaela, Jager and Jaylyn. He also leaves behind many dear cousins and friends, several that he referred to as "Brothers".

He was preceded in death by his niece, Lora M. Fawley, in-laws, Gene and Evelyn Jeffries; sister-in-law, Jayne B. Jeffries Minear, and nephew, Kamden Jeffries.

The family of James is honoring him with a Memorial Gathering to be held on Thursday, September 17th at the Smithtown Community Center, 56 Smithtown School Road, from 3:30pm to 7:30pm with a eulogy at 4:00pm at which time you may share a special memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to WV Caring Hospice, 3433 University Avenue, Morgantown, WV 26505 or a hospice organization of your choice.
