James Lee (Jim) Konchesky Sr., of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Windy Hill Village in Kingwood, WV James was born on September 1, 1934 the son of late Adam and Mary Konchesky. From an early age, James was an altar boy at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church where he later became a lifelong member. He was a graduate from Morgantown High School and went on to complete his Bachelors and Masters degrees at West Virginia University in Chemical Engineering. James worked at the Bureau of Mines, The Mobay Chemical Comapany, and the U.S. Department of the Interior. James Konchesky and Earnest C. Oldaker were granted the U.S. Patent 3,576,262 entitled "Rotary Particle Distributor for Minimizing Particle Size Segregation in a Bin." The patent was assigned to the federal government through the Secretary of the Interior. He was a landlord and business owner in Star City for 38 years with his wife Stella. James was also an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Stella JoAnn Konchesky; daughter, Kimberly Kay and husband Raymond Corley; son, James Lee Jr. and wife Jeanette; Greg Finn of Georgia; grandchildren, Jackie Corley, Liam and Roman Konchesky, and Josh Finn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Junior and Robert; and one sister, Edith. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 27, from 10:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Fr. John V. DiBacco officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Peace Mausoleum.
