Janice Dorine Hess

Janice Dorine Hess, 84, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born in Morgantown on October 3, 1932, the daughter of the late Chester Arthur Hilling and late Ada Bell (Murray) Hilling. She attended Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Beulah Free Methodist Church. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed her job as a Walmart Greeter. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Robert Gregg Phillips and Dr. Kelly Ada Phillips; grandchildren, Erica, Joe, and Alex great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Nanny, Keanna simply stated “was my everything and I’ll forever miss her”, Nathanial, Sidney, Whitney, Trevor, Loreli, Cameron and Nakota; sisters Joanne Woods and Patty Hilling. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Robert Phillips and Archie Hess. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Foster, Hilda, Ernest, Dennis, Jean Maxon, Norman, Robert, James and Gaylord and her daughter-in-law, Kim Phillips. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown Monday, December 26th from 4-7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 27th from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sean Wightman officiating
