Janice Elaine Petitte

Janice Elaine (Jenkins) Petitte, 86, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Fuquay-Varina, NC on March 31, 2026. Janice was born on January 3, 1940, in Aliquippa, PA to the late Bertha Robbins and Thomas Jenkins.

Janice was a devoted wife and mother who embraced her many passions with enthusiasm and joy. She found great joy in birdwatching, filling her yard with feeders that welcomed her feathered friends each day. A lifelong animal lover, she adored her cats Rascal and Tiger and her dog Toby. She also possessed musical and artistic talents that reflected her creative spirit. Janice had a deep love for bowling, often joking with a smile that she would bowl “until her arm fell off.”

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by a brother Thomas, eight sisters (Bertie Means, Mildred “Midge” Courtney, Gloria Jenkins, Mary Ellen “Ellie” Lynch, Delores “Toots” Riley, Barbara Reynolds, Ruth DeVincent, and Davey Bacorn), and her beloved niece Cyndi Jones.

Janice is survived by her husband of 64 years, George Petitte, daughter Diane Haigler (Joe), daughter Donna Godwin (Marc) and 4 grandchildren (Zach Lodder, Nick Lodder, Alex Godwin, and Emma Godwin).

The family would like to thank the staff of Duke Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Janice throughout the last two months of her life.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Saturday, April 4th from 11:ooam until the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm with Pastor John DeVincent. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
