Jeannine E. Swisher

Jeannine E. Swisher, 93, of Morgantown, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Jeannine was born on June 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Alfred and Olive Essenwein.

She was a graduate of Kittanning High School the class of 1950. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company, AT&T and the Department of Defense. Jeannine was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Jeannine was united in marriage to Basil G.S. Swisher on July 12, 1952 in Kittanning, PA.

She is survived by five children, Michael Z. (Rosemarie) Swisher of Hampton, VA, B. Craig Swisher of Morgantown, WV, Joel V. (Cynthia) Swisher of Colorado Springs, CO, Lucinda S. (Timothy) Dixon of Laurel, MD, and Jeff B (Vanessa) Swisher of Elizabethtown, KY. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, sister Peggy Lou Essenwein, brothers, Alfred C. Essenwein and Robert G. Essenwein. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Micah J. Dixon.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, June 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Hastings Funeral Home on Monday, June 23, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Doug Strother officiating.

Private interment will take place at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
