Joan Elizabeth Shaver

Joan Elizabeth Shaver, a beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Shaver, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the age of 91.

She was born in Richard, WV on February 17, 1935, a daughter to the late Richard Conner and Elizabeth (Hall) Conner.

Joan was a hard-working, loyal employee who dedicated over 35 years of service to her career as a director with Blue Cross-Blue Shield, managing operations for both the Morgantown and Parkersburg locations. She was methodist by faith and attended Brookhaven United Methodist Church where she also volunteered as a bookkeeper.

Joan and her husband, Bob, were active members in their community and shared a life defined by togetherness. Whether they were traveling abroad to London, Paris, Amsterdam, or exploring West Virginia in search of a new local restaurant, the destination mattered less than the company. In addition to travelling, Joan loved to dance and especially loved dancing with Bob. As Joan puts it, Bob did a pretty mean “twist.”

Joan is survived by her daughter, Deborah Oliver (Michael); son, Stephen Evasko; grandson, Tyler Evasko; and brother-in-law, Glenn Shaver.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert L. Shaver and brother, Robert Conner.

A private family committal service will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
