John Thomas "Jack" Cassidy, Jr., 82, of Star City, formerly of Uniontown, Pa, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Golden Living Center.He was born January 20th 1930 in New Salem, PA son of the late John T. and Clara (OâRourke) Cassidy, Sr.He was employed by U.S. Steel, Maple Creek Mine as a miner, assistant mine foreman, and a member of the mine safety team retiring in 1986. He graduated in 1947 from German Twp. High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Joyce (Ramsey) Cassidy daughter, Karen E. Cassidy of Star City and son Brian T. Cassidy of Uniontown, Pa brothers, Patrick Cassidy and wife, Dottie, Robert Cassidy and wife Betty both of Bridgeton, NJ Paul Cassidy and wife, Bonnie of Masontown, Pa sisters, Mary Donato and husband, Anthony of Cedarville, NJ Theresa Cassidy of Uniontown and Peggy Colvard and husband Jim of Uniontown, Pa and Martha Sue Cassidy of Masontown, Pa sister-in-laws, Doris Cassidy, Olga Cassidy and Sara Cassidy all of Bridgeton, NJ and nieces, nephews, cousin and their families.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Claire Caccamo, Regina Kristovich and Kathleen Cassidy brothers Edward, Joseph, George and Jerome Cassidy.To honor Mr. Cassidyâs wishes, cremation services were provided by Hastings Funeral Home.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Marys Catholic Church Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 11am with Fr. John V. DiBacco as Celebrant. A private inurnment will be held at Greendale Cemetery in Masontown, Pa.
